It also serves as a platform to achieve a consensus on the repair methodology between the workshop team and the ship’s representative, ensuring that Hai Ha M&S’s high standards are maintained.

Next, it is crucial to implement occupational safety measures. This includes placing warning signs to clearly mark high-work areas and positioning safety personnel to monitor the worksite. The safety personnel, provided by Hai Ha M&S, play a critical role, especially during welding and cutting operations, to prevent fire hazards.

Once safety measures are in place, the repair work can begin. The first task is to survey the worksite and develop a unified repair plan involving the ship, workshop, and the supervising classification society. After the plan is in place, the main and auxiliary materials are transported to the worksite using shore cranes or electric winches, specifically to the top deck of the chimney.

The next step involves identifying and marking the technological hole cutting points on the chimney floor for material transfer. Following this, scaffolding is set up, and any related parts from the three-way valve are removed, including the insulation.

The actual repair work begins with the removal of each damper assembly. The assemblies are cleaned, and the damper blades are replaced with new ones according to the established procedure. After replacing the blades, the parts are reassembled, marked, and tested. This process is repeated for each damper blade assembly until the repair work is complete.

Following the reassembly, the technological holes are welded as per the welding standards. To ensure the quality and safety of the welds, non-destructive testing (NDT) is conducted, including PT and vacuum tests, in compliance with the classification society’s regulations. The final step in the repair process is the application of protective paint to the cut and welded areas, with the paint supplied by the ship.

Once the repair work is complete, the acceptance phase involves testing the scrubber system. This test checks the operation of the valves and inspects for any leaks, ensuring that the system functions correctly and up to the high standards set by Hai Ha M&S.
