The ship’s main engine comprises of several bearings such as: cross head bearigng, crankpin bearing, which assist the moving parts such as crankshaft, connecting rod, crosshead etc. The bearings supports the journal pin to avoid metal to metal contact, to reduce the rotational friction, and to transfer the load through lubricants.It is very important in a large engine to transfer the power generated in the combustion chamber to the crankshaft without transmitting transverse forces to the piston and large thrust directly to the crankshaft. Hence, crosshead bearing and crankpin bearing is given to compensate for this.

With the importance of such a main engine, any incident with it will lead to a very serious consequence. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically survey the main engine, while time The space of each ship is limited, especially container ships.
